Product brief

HikCentral Professional License

HikCentral Professional (HCP) is Hikvision’s modular security management platform. Licensing enables the features you need across video surveillance, access control, time & attendance, alarm/ANPR, parking, and more — sized to your device counts.

How licensing works

HikCentral Professional uses a simple structure so systems can start small and expand later.

Base licenses

Activate core applications such as Video Surveillance (VSS), Access Control (ACS), or Remote Site Management. One base license per application per server.

  • VSS Base (video management)
  • ACS Base (doors & credentials)
  • Site/branch management base (where applicable)

Expansion licenses

Add capacity on top of a base: camera channels, doors, number of managed sites, clients, or analytics.

  • Per‑camera channel packs for VSS
  • Per‑door packs for ACS
  • Site / device scaling where supported

Add‑on modules

Enable optional capabilities such as ANPR (license plate recognition), parking & visitor, attendance, intercom, and other application modules.

  • ANPR & parking management
  • Attendance & visitor workflows
  • Intercom & alarm collaboration
Tip: you can request a trial license from Hikvision and use their online selector to size channels, doors, and modules before purchase.

Common modules at a glance

  • Video Surveillance (VSS): live view, playback, events, maps, health monitoring.
  • Access Control (ACS): doors, schedules, credentials, anti‑passback, reporting.
  • ANPR: vehicle plate recognition with entry/exit rules and lists.
  • Attendance/Visitor: time & attendance, shifts, visitor pre‑registration.
  • Intercom/Alarm: device linkage, notifications, acknowledgment workflow.

Sizing quick guide

  • Count cameras → buy VSS base + channel packs for that total.
  • Count controlled doors → buy ACS base + door packs.
  • Add modules only where the use‑case exists (e.g., ANPR for car parks).
  • Plan room for growth (reserve ~10–20% headroom).

Deployment notes

  • Licenses are activated on the server that runs HCP.
  • Client apps (Control Client/Web) connect to the licensed server.
  • Backups of license files and project config are recommended.

FAQ

What is the difference between base, expansion, and add‑on?

Base unlocks an application (e.g., VSS or ACS). Expansion increases capacity within that application (more cameras, doors, sites). Add‑ons provide optional features (for example ANPR) on top of the base.

Can I mix modules on one server?

Yes. HCP is modular. You can enable video only, access control only, or combine modules on the same platform and add more licenses later.

Is there a trial?

Hikvision provides trial licensing and an online license selection tool. Contact your distributor or Hikvision representative for region‑specific details.

Do templates or dashboards require extra licenses?

Most operator UI functions are part of the base modules. Advanced analytics or vertical packages may require add‑ons. Check current datasheets when planning.

Next steps

  1. Identify required modules (VSS, ACS, ANPR, etc.).
  2. Count devices (cameras, doors) and expected growth.
  3. Use the official selector or consult your distributor for SKUs.
  4. Request a trial license to validate the design.

This page is an educational overview. Always confirm exact SKUs, capacities, and terms with the current Hikvision documentation for your region.
