How licensing works

HikCentral Professional uses a simple structure so systems can start small and expand later.

Base licenses

Activate core applications such as Video Surveillance (VSS), Access Control (ACS), or Remote Site Management. One base license per application per server.

Expansion licenses

Add capacity on top of a base: camera channels, doors, number of managed sites, clients, or analytics.

What is the difference between base, expansion, and add‑on?

Base unlocks an application (e.g., VSS or ACS). Expansion increases capacity within that application (more cameras, doors, sites). Add‑ons provide optional features (for example ANPR) on top of the base.

Can I mix modules on one server?

Yes. HCP is modular. You can enable video only, access control only, or combine modules on the same platform and add more licenses later.
